Ingredients
- 1 head cabbage
- 1/2 lb pork sausage
- 3 T flour
- 1 c milk
- 2/3 c cheddar cheese shredded
- 1/2 c cracker crumbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Coat casserole dish with cooking spray.
- Coarsely chop cabbage and cook in boiling water until tender. Salt and pepper to taste. Drain cabbage reserving 2 cups liquid.
- Fry sausage and drain. Retain 2 tablespoons fat in pan. Add flour and stir over medium heat until blended. Gradually add 1 cup milk and 2 cups cabbage water cooking and stirring until thickened. About 5 minutes.
- Grease casserole dish. Place a layer of cooked cabbage and then a layer of sausage. Pour sauce over top and sprinkle with cheese and cracker crumbs. Repeat layers until all is in casserole. Bake for 30 minutes or until crumbs are golden brown.
